Carbon Fiber Helmets
Items 1-12 of 202
Carbon Fiber Motorcycle Helmets rank among the most prestigious motorcycle helmet materials available. Lightweight and very strong, there’s no question most helmets seen in MotoGP races are made of carbon fiber. With its highly intensive manufacturing process, it’s also no surprise why these helmets come with a much higher price tag compared to polycarbonate or fiberglass helmets.
Carbon Fiber Helmets are lightweight thanks to the high strength of the material. This means that manufacturers can use less shell material while still retaining the same level of safety. Since carbon fiber is such a rigid material, it also performs best in high speed impacts. An additional safety aspect of non-racing carbon fiber helmets is that thanks to their light weight, neck fatigue is also reduced.
Though a lot of helmets call themselves “carbon fiber” or have the famous carbon fiber skin, it is important to keep in mind that this is actually a composite material. And, as such, is frequently combined with other materials such as Aramid or fiberglass to enhance its performance and safety.
If you still have questions about carbon fiber helmets, then we’ve also gone more in depth on the subject in our Shell Material Video Review.
Thanks to AGV, Schuberth, and X-Lite, carbon fiber is no longer under the sole purview of the racing world. Now, sport-touring and touring riders can also join what was previously a sport bike rider only club. So, as usual it’s best not to forget what sort of riding you plan on doing. Though weight will no longer be an issue, there is always the question of whether a drop-down sun visor makes sense, or whether you would like the added convenience of a Modular Helmet.
