Leather Motorcycle Jackets have always been a timeless staple among motorcycle riders. Whether you’re looking for a jacket to keep you safe on the racetrack, through the city, or on tour, there’s a reason why these jackets are so popular. Leather jackets, often made of cow, bison, or kangaroo leather, offer excellent abrasion resistance and even a low level of water resistance. The other reason why these jackets are so popular is, over time, they grow more and more comfortable.
Leather Jackets offer a range of benefits besides their abrasion and tear resistance. These types of jackets will often be found in the premium racing segment due to the high level of protection that they offer. Some Leather Jackets offer external TPU protectors on the shoulders and elbows in addition to the internal armor already in the jacket. With this much protection, style is naturally bound to follow suit.
Though Leather Riding Jackets may look great, there are some caveats to keep in mind. Leather jackets are well known for not being breathable and, as a result, very hot during the summer. Even with perforations, leather jackets will still generally be warmer than a similar Textile Jacket. These jackets are also frequently not fully waterproof. So, while you may get some basic protection from a drizzle, it is generally better to choose a Textile Motorcycle Jacket if you expect any hard rain.
