Waterproof Motorcycle Boots are always handy to have on hand when riding in the rain, winter, or off road. These boots are often made of leather, textile, or a mix of the two, since each offers its own advantages. Waterproof Motorcycle Shoes also come in a range of styles depending on the type of riding category.
Waterproof Boots can be subdivided into two categories. First, are the boots that use proprietary waterproofing membranes. Examples include Dainese’s D-Dry or Revit’s Hydratex liner. Though these liners are effective in keeping the water out, they still do not match the next category of Waterproof Shoes: Gore-Tex. Gore-Tex Boots offer a much higher level of waterproofing that is ideal for those who plan to commute or tour in any weather condition, while still wanting some breathability.
Since waterproof boots can be found in such a wide range of categories, they also vary widely in the level of protection that they offer. So, you can find waterproof boots such as the SIDI Adventure 2 Gore-Tex that offer a high level of protection from the toe to the shin. Or, there are more casual shoes such as the Dainese York D-WP, which only go up to the ankle. As such, it is important to keep in mind what type of riding you are planning on doing to make sure the waterproof boot can deliver the right amount of safety and performance.
