Winter Motorcycle Boots are not only designed to protect you from the road, but from the cold and wet as well. These boots are often waterproofed and, depending on the model, come with additional thermal linings.

Most often, winter motorcycle boots will be targeted at touring and adventure riders who need the extra protection from the cold. So, these boots are usually made of a mix of leather, microfiber, and textile. Leather will provide both high abrasion resistance and weatherproofing. Microfiber, a synthetic leather, also has a high abrasion resistance and is lightly water repellent. Most winter shoes are not made out of textile and will mainly use the material in areas where more flexibility is required such as in the ankle.

Since Winter Boots generally fit into the adventure and touring categories, they will have a higher level of road safety. These boots will usually include reinforcement in the heel and the toe. Depending on the boot, the ankle will also include either reinforcement or a full hyperextension control system.

These boots are meant to be worn in the winter, so they rarely include ventilation or perforations and instead focus on being waterproof. Winter boots frequently include waterproofing either from the manufacturer themselves or a full Gore-Tex waterproof liner. While both liners will be effective, Gore-Tex waterproof membranes are much more desirable for those looking for a higher level of weather protection.
